Qatar has earned the rights to host the FIFA World Cup 2022. For Qatar, the GCC and the Arab World this presents enormous opportunities. The 2006 Asian Games made a huge difference to the country and the region as a whole, and the 2022 FIFA World Cup is also expected to benefit the country and the region.

How Qatar did it:
Qatar has promised to spend $50bn on infrastructure upgrades and $4bn to build nine stadiums and renovate three others. As per the proposed plan, no stadium is expected to require more than one hour of commuting time.

The unique offering is that it has been proposed that solar power will be used for air-cooled stadiums, and to build modular stadia that would be later dismantled and donated to developing countries.

Qatar led in the 2022 ballot on each of the four rounds, obtaining 14 votes against 8to the US in the final round.

What it means for Qatar and the region?
The scale of such an achievement cannot be under estimated, the World Cup is the biggest sporting event globally with estimates of television audiences for the 2010 FIFA World Cup final exceeding 700mn.

Given the central location of Qatar, 82% of the world's time zones will be able to receive Qatar 2022 games live in prime time, with a potential match day peak audience of 3.2 billion viewers; this has the potential to create an enhanced rights value for FIFA.

Also, Middle East proximity to European and Asian markets is likely to enhance the commercial value of hospitality rights compared to South Africa 2010.

This provides Qatar with a unique opportunity to showcase itself and the Arab World effectively and to alleviate any doubts about the Arab World and to confirm the belief that the GCC is a fast-developing part of the world economy.

Qatar is a booming sporting, art, cultural and tourist destination and with the traction provided by this win, it has the potential to attract lots of visitors in spite of the weather conditions.

Perhaps one of the most significant expectations from this award is that it will get the world closer to the Middle East and create multi-cultural ties across the region with the world.

Qatar Economy - A snapshot:
Qatar's overall GDP growth has averaged 17% over the past decade.

Even during the recession in 2009 when most of the world economies retreated, Qatar -with the world's 3rd largest gas reserves and second largest GDP per capita - posted an overall real GDP growth of 8.6%, underpinned mainly by expansion in the production of liquefied gas (LNG) and condensates, and a relatively strong performance in the non-hydrocarbon sector.

Even in the near term, as per IMF estimates, the growth is likely to continue with Qatar's overall real GDP projected to grow by 16.0% in 2010 and 18.6% in 2011, which is among the highest in the world - driven mainly by large expansion in natural gas production and public investment expenditures.

The global turmoil and the Dubai debt crisis have had a limited impact on the banking system.

Preemptive equity injections and asset purchases by the authorities have helped to further improve the resilience of the Qatari economy.

How the economy will benefit - infrastructure, tourism, banking, real estate and construction?
The vision of HH the Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, and HH Sheikha Mozah Nasser al-Misnad has brought Qatar to a high prospective internationally and what the 2022 bid presents to the world is exceptional from all aspects.

Qatar can develop adequate infrastructure to accommodate the 2022 events, and these are going to benefit future generations and bidding for other events like the Olympics.

The massive renovation and new construction is likely to boost all sectors. Looking at numbers, a report by UBS Investment Research (from February 2010) estimated that preparation for the FIFA World Cup - which commenced four years ago - has added between 0.5% and 2.2% to South African GDP (depending on which infrastructure projects one considers); and overall had created in excess of 300,000 jobs since 2006 - a 2.7% contribution to employment figures.

UBS research also indicated that the three previous World Cup hosting-countries saw their GDP grow by 1.8% on average during the year of the tournament - although determining how much of the growth was associated with the tournament itself is very difficult to ascertain and likely falls well below this number.

Undoubtedly, Qatar needs to undertake massive development activity in order to deliver what they have proposed. However, most of this is in-line with the already articulated Qatar National Plan.

Also, Qatar's experience in successfully hosting the 2006 Doha Asian Games will help in the planning and implementation of the 2022 event.

The impact of Qatar winning its bid for the 2022 FIFA World Cup would be profound for the state, its people and the Arab World.

In addition to creating thousands of jobs across primary and ancillary industries, it will provide the acceleration for ideas that are at the moment just sketches and drawings but will give them the push to become realities.

Construction boom: To bring the facilities enhancement to fruition, construction activity in Qatar is expected to witness a significant surge. This will catalyze a lot of infrastructure projects that have been progressing slowly or waiting in the wings.

Commercial and semi-residential construction is likely to see the highest increase ahead of 2022 in order to meet the expected demand. Real estate prices are also likely to see movements in line with the venues with demand rising in certain areas more than others.

It is also inevitable that regional and international players will actively enter the Qatar market which is currently dominated by local and GCC operators.

Commercial tie-ups and innovative business sharing agreements are likely to emerge in what is currently considered a plain-vanilla market.

Facilities enhancement: A total of 12 state-of-the-art stadiums will be made available which includes the renovation and refurbishment of three existing stadiums.

In addition, the hospitality and real estate sectors are expected to see a significant boost.

Given the geographic advantages that Qatar has over South Africa, the number of tourists expected to visit the 2022 World Cup is likely to increase.

This implies a need for new hotels across class categories as well as serviced apartments and other short term residential options.

Additionally, it is also expected that the food and beverage industry will see a surge of investments ahead of the games.

Transportation infrastructure: A fully air-conditioned rapid mass transportation system is likely to be built to connect not only all venues but also public placed.

In addition to this, a second international airport is due to open in 2012 - a decade before the first match of the 2022 World Cup kicks off - with the capacity to handle 50m passengers a year.

Financing arrangements: In order to be able to meet all the above business demands, the banking sector is expected to play the most pivotal role.

The availability of liquidity in the system will be imperative and the banking sector is likely to see an increase in activity across its verticals.

Commercial and construction loans with innovative structures are a possibility since it is likely that most banks will want a bigger share of the pie of revenue which will be made available.

Another aspect of the financial market which could see an increase is the insurance segment and especially logistics related insurance and property insurance.

The banking sector is also likely to play a very important role in allowing international participation by proving funding to new entrants into the Qatar market.

Hosting the tournament is undoubtedly a source of pride and honor among the entire Arab World to show its capabilities in hosting major events and likely as a consequence the massive economic boom of the numerous new projects coming up will be unique to the region.

Worldfest Celebrating Morocco

WorldFest is the largest international Festival in North Texas. This year, with Morocco’s participation, WorldFest has set a new record by hosting close to 30,000 attendees, with many visitors coming from other countries.

The Moroccan Village was built on 10,000 square feet covered by 20 tents. It was a mix of tradition, authenticity and modern culture as 30+ Moroccan artisans and craftsmen created artifacts made of glass, wood, leather and bronze to build furniture, home textiles and other specialty goods. Witch's created the wow factor throughout the festival.

Visitors rested next to a mosaic fountain, enjoyed melodious sounds from Melhoun "Popular Moroccan Songs" Diva, Laila Lamrini, joined by the Moroccan Orchestra group “Renaissance” or from the Gnawa’s dynamic street performers “Ouled Bombara” who have represented Morocco in many festivals all over the world.

Caftan designer Kenza Nafy enchanted the crowed with her beautiful collections and creations presented at a fashion show.

Another highlight of the festival was the traditional Moroccan wedding. The lucky groom and bride (Moroccan Actress Amal Essagr) were carried by the Gnaoua group which performed the "Ammaria Dance" and perform other great acts that happen during a Moroccan wedding.

A Moroccan wedding could not be complete without serving the delicious healthy eating for life Moroccan food. There will be plenty of it, including Besteela, Tagine, Couscous, Harira, Moroccan sweets (Gazelle corns, Briwat, Shabbkia, and more), followed by a glass of hot Moroccan mint tea.

Presented by the Town of Addison and the World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth, Worldfest was a two day “getaway” celebrating the world’s diverse heritage by providing a genuine global experience with international music and dance, exhibitions, an international market, ethnic foods, children’s activities and more. Besides Morocco, other countries were celebrated by WorldFest, like Turkey, Mexico, Bulgaria,..etc.

Bringing Morocco to WorldFest was a long journey but also a great accomplishment. An effort organized by Morocco’s “ House of Artisan- “Dar assani”, Mr. Ahmed Yanouri, a board member of World Affairs Council and Mr. Chaib Salih, President of the Moroccan North Texas Association and member of the World Affairs Council.

Dar-assani ‘s goal is to add other cities in the US next year such as Washington DC to share Morocco’s culture and heritage.

For many years, the Moroccan Amazigh community struggled for official recognition. Recently, a series of events, including an intense grassroots campaign by activists and several historic government decisions, have resulted in the “coming of age” of the Imazighen question. These developments, such as the establishment of the Royal Institute of Amazigh Culture, sweeping educational reforms, and the issuance of the Amazigh Manifesto, have had significant linguistic, artistic, and socio-political implications. In this event, Washington Moroccan Club, the Royal Institute of Amazigh Culture, and George Washington University have partnered to present a series of panels exploring these different aspects. The virtues of fasting has spiritual, physical and psychological obvious, relieved the researcher and university Zafar Nomani, in an article published Saturday 22 by The Washington Post, in its electronic edition.

"What I discovered, along with other researchers, is that fasting has obvious benefits, both in spiritual and physical, psychological and social," said Zafar Nomani, Professor Emeritus of Nutrition University of West Virginia, and winner of the "Prix Hassan II" rewards the best scientific research and medical on Ramadan.

Professor Nomani, who has received this award at the First International Congress on "Health and Ramadan", held in Casablanca in 1994, explains that fasting during Ramadan "looks like, somehow, to a permanent annual educational workshop on how to become a better citizen of the world ".

Fasting, says he acts as a regulator which reminds us of the problems of poverty, drinking water resources in the world and encourages us to avoid overconsumption and waste of food.

Because "after all, too much food ends up being thrown in the garbage bags," laments this university who has conducted research on the nutritional consequences of the behavior during the fasting period on the organization of several volunteers in the United States and Pakistan.

"No eating, drinking and undesirable behavior makes the person more morally disciplined and less prone to unhealthy behavior," says he, noting that researchers in Jordan found a significant decrease in cases of para - suicide (suicide attempt will not die) during the month of Ramadan.

In Great Britain, fasting has been used by several health centers to reduce smoking rates, especially among people of African and Asian origin. Professor Nomani said however that there are choices for which one can opt for the practice of fasting is done more safely.

Scientific studies show that there are people who eat too much during Ramadan, which is a phenomenon that contradicts the essence of this holy month, sorry there, adding that studies show that health problems can result of an on-diet or a diet unbalanced.

"The death of Michael Jackson was found by doctors yesterday's afternoon after its arrival at the hospital in a deep coma," writes the leading newspaper of the second city of the United States, quoting "sources in the municipality and law enforcement. "

According to TMZ.com, who had previously announced the death of Jackson without giving a source, "the king of pop" has been the victim of a heart attack shortly after 12:00 pm (19H00 GTM) and the emergency services failed to revive.

The Los Angeles Times for its part indicated that firefighters had responded to a call from the singer's home in West Los Angeles, around 12:26 (19h26 GTM). The singer stopped breathing when they arrived, said the newspaper, which said he was revived and transported to the hospital capital of Ronald Reagan UCLA (University of California at Los Angeles).

The announcement of the death has not been confirmed in the immediate source nor hospital nor its agent, E. Tohme Tohme.

Emergency access to hospital capital were blocked Thursday afternoon by the police, and some fifty journalists had come on site were kept at a distance.

The news of the death of "king of pop" comes as the singer hoped to make his comeback on stage in London this summer with a series of concerts.

After having virtually disappeared since his acquittal in 2005 in a trial where he was accused of sexually touching a young person, the singer was briefly reappeared in March to announce a fifty concerts.

During a brief and disjointed to the press and thousands of fans, Michael Jackson, arrived late for over an hour and a half on the schedule, had indicated he would be his "last performances in London ".

The first day of the Muslim new year on 1 Muharram 1430, this falls year on Monday, 29 December 2008. Although Muslims do not celebrate New Year, this day is a holiday in many Muslim countries.

It happened in 1430 after years of emigration of Prophet Muhammad from Mecca to Medina in September 622 A.D, an event designated by the term Hijrah (Hegirea in English). This trip is one of the major events of Muslim history.

The first Muslims were severely persecuted and tortured to Mecca by the powerful Quraysh tribe. Muslims were little and a great many of them were slaves. Unable to pushing the hand of their persecutors, all they could do was wait until God gives them another issue.
The twelfth year of the prophetic mission, twelve men from the town of Yathrib (The old name of Medina) went to Mecca during the season pilgrimage and met Muhammad at Al-`Aqabah. Having heard his message, they embraced Islam and declared their faith at the First Oath Al-`Aqabah. The Prophet sent Mus `ab ibn` Umayr with them to Yathrib to teach them religion. Mus `ab managed to convert many people to the Islam. The following year, in June 622 A.D , sixty-three men and two women of Yathrib went to the Prophet during the pilgrimage and it lent allegiance, it was the Second Oath of Al-`Aqabah. They promised to protect and assist the Muslims in Mecca to resettle in their city.

The delegation was the core of Muslims who were subsequently the name of Ansar, literally auxiliaries or helpers, Muslims from Yathrib, a city renamed Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah - City Illuminated - or Medina. Muslims gradually left Mecca in small groups, not to attract the attention of Qurayshites. Finally, the Qurayshites realized what was happening and tried to prevent many of them to leave. The history recounts many stories About these men and women who abandoned their homes, their property and their families to be able to freely practice their religion in Medina.

It was only a few months later that God authorized the Prophet - Peace and blessings upon him - to leave Mecca. Shortly before his departure, Jibril (Angel Gabriel) told Muhammad that the Quraysh for plotting stab in his sleep. The night the murder was to take place, its cousin `Ali ibn Abi Talib was lying in the bed of the Prophet as it is refuge with his companion Abu Bakr in a cave south of the Mecca, opposite the direction of Medina. Fortunately for `Ali, the murderers discovered his face before the stabbing, then they left when they realized that their plot was foiled.

Muhammad and Abu Bakr hid in a cave for three days while Qurayshites combed near Mecca. At one point, their enemies stood a few meters from them outside the cave, but God protected by "ordinary miracles". A spider came into effect weave its web at the entrance to the cave and doves had made their nest and lay their eggs. Prosecutors have said that was no entered this cave recently and the searched does not.

The two companions continued their journey therefore, led by a guide pagan, and borrowed coastal road to distort company with their pursuers. When they finally arrived in Medina, Muhammad released the reins of his camel and left forward as it seemed to be posat it. The Prophet bought the land where his camel had stopped.

Then, until the Mosque of the Prophet and his apartments there were built, the Prophet and Abu Bakr enjoyed the hospitality of Ansar.

The Hegira finally gave the Muslims a place where they could declare their religion openly and practice in peace. This was the birth of the State Islamic. The verses of the Koran revealed to Mecca had dealt mainly the nature of God and of man's relationship with him. At the Mecca, there were few homes in which all members were Muslims. In this time, Islam seemed to focus on the individual and its future in the next Hereafter. In contrast, the verses revealed in Medina focused more on relationship with another man - the social, political and Economic Islam could not be developed before, under persecution.

The Hijra was also remarkable for brotherhood and altruism shown by the Ansar against Muhâjirûn (Emigrants from Mecca). The Ansar were not rich. Nevertheless, they welcomed the Muhâjirûn, shared their food and habitat with them, and helped to settle and find job. Moreover, the Ansar were aware that by so doing they defied the Qurayshites and all the pagan tribes of the Arabian Peninsula. Pagans launched, in fact, several military campaigns to exterminate the State Muslim emerging. But the Ansar remained faithful to the Prophet - peace and blessings upon him - did that constantly love and rent.

This was the second caliph, `Umar ibn Al-Khattab who chooses the year of Hijrah as a starting point of the Muslim calendar.

The Hegira marked the birth of Islam as a complete lifestyle all aspects of human existence.

Eid al-Adha (Arabic: عيد الأضحى ‘Īd ul-’Aḍḥā) or the Festival of Sacrifice is a religious festival celebrated by Muslims worldwide in commemoration of the willingness of Ibrahim (Peace be upon him) to sacrifice his first son Ismail as an act of obedience to God."And he (Ibrhaim as) said (after his rescue from the fire): “Verily, I am going to my Lord. He will guide me!” “My Lord! Grant me (offspring) from the righteous.” So We gave him the glad tidings of a forbearing boy. And, when he (his son) was old enough to walk with him, he said: “O my son! I have seen in a dream that I am slaughtering you (offer you in sacrifice to Allâh), so look what you think!” He said: “O my father! Do that which you are commanded, Inshâ’ Allâh (if Allâh will), you shall find me amongst the patient ones." Surat Safaat

The devil tempted Ibrahim by saying he should disobey God and spare his son. As Ibrahim was about to sacrifice his son, God intervened and instead provided a Lamb as the sacrifice“O Abraham! You have fulfilled the dream” Verily! Thus do We reward the Muhsinûn (good-doers). Verily, that indeed was a manifest trial and We ransomed him with a great sacrifice and We left for him (a goodly remembrance) among generations (to come) in later times. Salâmun (peace) be upon Ibrâhim!” Surat Safaat

This is why Muslims around the world wear their Nicest Clothing and attend a Special Prayer gathering in the Morning. This is followed by a short sermon, after which everyone stands up to hug and greet one another. Next, people visit each other's homes and partake in festive meals with special dishes, beverages, and desserts.“It is neither their meat nor their blood that reaches Allâh, but it is piety from you that reaches Him” Surat Hajj

Children receive gifts and sweets on this joyous occasion. today all over the world Muslims who can afford to do so, sacrifice saying (In the name of God, And God is the greatest, O God, indeed this is from you and for you, O God accept from me) an animal (usually a Goat or a Sheep), as a reminder of Ibrahim's obedience to God. The meat is then shared out with family, friends (Muslims or non-Muslims), as well as the poor members of the community. Eid al-Adha annually falls on the 10th day of the month of Dhul Hijja (ذو الحجة) of the lunar Islamic calendar witch's on the 9th December in Morocco.

On this occasion of Eid Al Adha I present my best wishes for a blessed Eid full of Joys, Happiness, Peace & Prosperity.

Nothing else, God, you can not, with respect to those who have fought for religion and you have expelled from your homes and assisted back to your expulsion, to take them for patrons. And those who use them for bosses, and then they are them prevaricators.(The review, 7-8-9.

These verses begin with an expression of term expressing the event: 'it may be that'. Emanating from the Creator, the Most Exalted the Very glorified, this phrase takes the peremptory tone of accomplished fact. These verses were revealed twenty years after our Prophet and intercessor, salvation and prayer upon him, was invested with his mission of the Messenger of God. This verse comes about believers say: maybe God will soon replace the affection and love of hostility and enmity that persist between you and your loved ones infidels. Know that he is capable of everything that His mercy is such that he absolves the leniency: "My mercy encompasses all things: I will stipulate So for those who practice piety and pay taxes for those who are also believing in signs, then those who follow the messenger, the prophet they find at all words at home in the Torah and the Gospel, ordering them suitable, preventing the reprehensible, making lawful good things, Banning bad, removing the burden and the shackles that were on them." Perhaps you will soon make-on mercy."(Partitions, 10-11)

In recording of legal documents: "And a scribe writes you, in all fairness." (The Cow, 282); with the enemy and friend, the poor and the rich, and the near abroad, as evidenced by this noble verse: "Ho, who believes! Come on! Standing for God, for witnesses God with justice! And that hatred of a people does not encourage you not to do equity. Equity Make: it is closer to piety. " (The platter served 8)

If justice is the high road that leads to progress and happiness of nations, providing them with security, peace and tranquillity, injustice, however, is a way that it leads to disintegration and destruction, undermining the well established and the foundations. God is telling the truth, saying: "And they were elaborating a plan to a ploy. Yet we were elaborating a plan without doubt they are a ploy. Watch to what has happened to their ploy: we maked them perish, yes, their people too. So what they missed by interest, their house collapsed roofs! This is a sign, really, for people who know."(The Ants, 50-51-52)

In a hadith kodsi (= sacred: that the Prophet of God wishes), the same truth is confirmed: "O My slaves, I prohibits injustice, and I have defended to perpetrate. So do not unjust towards each other. "

The second verse, God lists the categories of people with whom we must break all links, against which we must resist, in order to ward off their blows and thwart their machinations. One finds confirmation in this verse: "Nothing else, God, you can not, with respect to those who have fought for religion and you have expelled from your homes and assisted back to your expulsion, to take for patrons. Those who take to the bosses, then it is them prevaricators."(The review, 7-8-9).

Explanation: God, the Most exalted, the Most Glorified, categorically prohibits you believers, to testify about love or affection to those who have fought you because you are Muslims, and those who have driven you away from your homes, and those who have helped you with your enemies expatriation. But God, the Most Exalted, the Most Glorified, by His grace, put them together, thus bringing together people with a pure natural to convert to infidelity to Creed and grouping them into a harmonious whole, as he says in this verse: "The believers, the hearts of which he has put affection; -Would-you spent all that is on earth, you would not have gotten its affection between their hearts but it is God who has put affection between them." (The remains, 63);

Law-sacred in Islam requires its followers to extend a hand of peace to anyone who goes down, regardless of their creed. Especially as dogma can be imposed. This Act - protected sacred human life, both Muslims and non-Muslims, using a variety of instruments, alternating between seduction and exhortation on the one hand, intimidation and reprimand the other. Suffice it to recall that the same law states that anyone who kills one person unjustly is as if he has killed the whole of humanity. In fact, God said in this regard: "Whoever kills a person, unless that exchange or another because of a disorder committed in the land-… nothing else, then it is as if it had killed all the people together."(Le Plateau served, 32);" And whoever makes him the gift of life "that is, one who acts so that this life is preserved by presenting testimony credible, preventing an injustice, murder, either by warning a tyrant, "it's as if it were the gift of life to all people together."

- Those who confuse Jihad in Islam and Terrorism and Aggression are ignorant and misguided. Because Jihad in Islam has been established that for noble purposes, including particularly: firstly, protecting religion, human life, homeland, honor, dignity, and everything that God has ordained Defense; secondly: to support victims of injustices and crime and punish those responsible. All the achievements that took place under the Prophet Mohammed, salvation and prayer upon him, were in fact driven by these two designs: the battle of "Badr" was intended to protect those who have been evicted from their homes, with no other crime than having proclaimed loud and clear the name of Allah, that of "Ohod" was conducted for the Defense of Medina against the onslaught of associates; the "Combined" (Al-ahzab) sought to thwart the siege almost total Medina by associates; taking Mecca was a way to help victims of abuse and inequity, in this case the tribe Banou Khoza'a, allies of the Muslims who were betrayed by their enemies , associates.

This is the meaning of Jihad in Islam to defend what it takes to defend, and provide assistance to victims of injustice.
